Honey Harvesting Workshop at Hiver

Hiver's honey beers start with the hive, and this workshop shows you how honey is harvested. Over 1.5 hours in the Hiver events space in Bermondsey, you'll extract honey yourself with expert guidance, and go home with a jar of the honey you harvested.

What you'll do

Your host takes you through the harvest step by step, explaining how honey gets from the comb into the jar. Then it's your turn: you'll do the extraction yourself, with help on hand throughout. You'll learn about bees and the honey they make as you go, and you'll see why the honey Hiver uses matters so much to its beers.

Who it's for

Unlike most Beer Mile experiences, this one is open to anyone aged 14 or over, so it works well for families with teenagers, curious food lovers and anyone thinking about beekeeping. Groups are up to 20 people, which suits a team outing or a celebration with friends. At £35 per person it's also one of the more affordable hands-on experiences in Bermondsey.

From April to September, Hiver runs beekeeping experiences in central London and the Sussex countryside, where you suit up and inspect a live hive.

About Hiver

Hiver is a London honey beer brand, born out of an admiration for the city's urban beekeepers and a passion for craft beer. Its beers use only British ingredients and are fermented with raw honey, and the range includes a Honey Blonde Beer and a Honey Brown Ale. Hiver is one of the longest-standing venues on the Bermondsey Beer Mile, and its taproom on Stanworth Street has a live colony of bees in an exhibition hive on the wall.
