About this experience

Hiver’s Cider Tasting

The Bermondsey Beer Mile is mostly about beer, but Hiver also has a tasting for cider fans. Hiver's Cider Tasting is a tutored session built around a top-five pick from the UK's cideries, with a host who explains what you're drinking.

The tasting covers cider's history, the main styles you'll come across and how cider is made, from apple to glass. Tasting five ciders side by side makes it much easier to tell dry from sweet and still from sparkling, and to see how different producers approach the same fruit.

Who it's for

It suits cider drinkers who want to get to know the category better, and mixed groups where not everyone drinks beer. It's also a good fit with the beer tastings if you're visiting with friends who prefer different drinks. Everyone must be 18 or over.

When it runs

Tastings take place at the taproom Friday to Sunday (Fridays 4pm–10pm, Saturdays 11am–late and Sundays 12pm–9pm). Check Hiver's booking page for available slots.

Want to make your own?

Between September and March, Hiver also runs a hands-on Cider Making Workshop, where you press your own apples and take your cider home.

About Hiver

Hiver is a London honey beer brand, born out of an admiration for the city's urban beekeepers and a passion for craft beer. Its beers use only British ingredients and are fermented with raw honey, and the range includes a Honey Blonde Beer and a Honey Brown Ale. Hiver is one of the longest-standing venues on the Bermondsey Beer Mile, and its taproom on Stanworth Street has a live colony of bees in an exhibition hive on the wall.
